Kristen Boss (00:00):  Welcome to Purposeful Social Selling with Kristen Boss. I’m your host, Kristen Boss. I’m a mindset and business coach with more than 15 years experience in both the product and service based industry. I believe that social selling is the best business model for people wanting to make an impact while they make serious income. This is the podcast for the social seller, who is tired of feeling inauthentic in their business and desires to find a more purposeful and profitable way of growing their business. In today’s social media landscape. In this podcast, you will learn what it takes to grow a sustainable business through impactful and social marketing. It’s time to ditch the hustle and lead from the heart. Let me show you the new way.

Kristen Boss (00:48):  Hey bosses, welcome to another week of the podcast. This week it is Thanksgiving week here in the US. This is my favorite holiday. I think it’s because it’s the holiday with the least amount of hustle and bustle and preparation. You don’t need to do the gifts or the parties, or, you know, the company parties. Or, you know, there’s just less stress around Thanksgiving. I mean, the most stress you’re feeling is if you’re traveling. Goodness, we did that for a couple of Thansgivings. And, you know, I told my husband, I was like, I never want to fly around Thanksgiving again. So if you’re flying my hats off to you. But for me, the most stress I want to feel around, you know, Thanksgiving is choosing between apple pie and pumpkin pie, to be honest with you. So I am just so excited to be celebrating that with my family.

Kristen Boss (01:35):  Something I’m super grateful for personally is that just my parents just moved locally to me within 30-minute driving distance, which I have been waiting almost a decade for. And we are just so delighted to have a set of grandparents in town where my kids get to see my parents. I I’m just, I get, teary-eyed just thinking about it. They actually just got here. So we’re going to be celebrating our first Thanksgiving with my parents living locally to us. How amazing is that? I’m so thankful. And if you were not in the US and you were an international listener and you’re not celebrating Thanksgiving, I just want to give a special shout-out to our international listeners. Thank you for tuning in week after week and sharing, we have a great number of international listeners, and I just want to give an extra special word of thanks to you for tuning in week after week.

Kristen Boss (02:27):  And then I’d also love to say a huge thank you to you, the listener. Thank you so much for tuning in week after week. Thank you for the reviews. Thank you for sharing with your teammates, your upline, your friends. I think we also have a bunch of people just that just aren’t in social selling and they love coming to this podcast and just learning about a different approach to just entrepreneurship because there are so many similarities. There’s a lot of common threads between social selling and other online businesses. And I feel so grateful that I get to come on this podcast week after week and serve you and give you encouragement and give you tangible things to take in your day-to-day life and in your business. So thank you for that. Thank you for making this podcast. So wonderful. Thank you for being just a great, great audience.

Kristen Boss (03:18):  I really am so blessed that I get to speak to you week after week. So thank you again. So I, for this episode, it’s going to be kind of casual. I really want to talk about how to hustle proof your holidays right now, there’s a lot going on and you might be dealing with like travel and seeing different family members. And you’re balancing between, you know, kids having Thanksgiving break and Christmas break and the hustle and bustle of buying presents and planning. There’s just a lot going on this time of year. And there’s a lot of things demanding your time and your attention. And any time we feel that pull on us of many things that demand our time and attention, it’s very easy for those things to take precedent, precedent over the things that really matter. The things that we have promised ourselves are our focus and our priorities and our business.

Kristen Boss (04:13):  This is when it’s really easy to kind of just cruise go into cruise mode and just do kind of just slow maintenance activities, not work on growing your business, but just kind of slowing it down and waiting until the new year to kind of kick it back in gear and get really motivated. And it’s so funny because as a certified life coach, technically, I’m a certified weight loss coach as well. And we have the same patterns with our health, right? This is when we’re like, well, you know, I really want to enjoy all the yummy food at Thanksgiving. I don’t want to restrict myself. And there’s just my mom’s favorite candy. And I don’t want to say no to that. And I just know there’s going to be really great, you know, holiday cookies that I only have once a year. You know, I’ll just like, I’m going to say yes, and you know, I’ll clean it up in the new year.

Kristen Boss (05:01):  I’ll kind of do a detox, it’s what I do every January. I’m just going to do a celery juice cleanse. I’m going to be in the gym. And this is like, you know, the collective thought that people have going into the holidays. Like, I’m just going to let loose. I need everything I want. And then, you know, December 26 with my tight pants, I’m going to be sitting with regret and self-loathing and beat myself up and tell myself, you know, why did I eat all those things? And that’s it. I’m serious, really serious this time. And I’m going to lose those five pounds. When I get back to the gym, January one, I’m serious. Like we do the exact same things with our health that we do with our business. Like, oh man, I really just let it go. What was wrong with me?

Kristen Boss (05:44):  And I, I don’t want that to be your narrative. Come January 1st. I don’t want you sitting there making promises to yourself and I don’t want them to be the same promises you made this January of this year. I don’t want you starting January 1st, feeling like you’re bummed with yourself that you didn’t finish the year as strong as you would have liked. And in order to prevent that from happening, we have to start making some very intentional, very focused decisions over the next six weeks. The last, I don’t know if there are quite six weeks left in the year. Maybe there’s a little bit less. I don’t have my calendar in front of me, but over the last remaining weeks of the year, what would it look like for you not to lose focus? Not to just kind of throw your hands in the air and be like, yeah, it’s fine.

Kristen Boss (06:38):  I’ll just wait until the new year because here’s the thing. And it’s the same thing with our health. If we’re going to keep going with that analogy, let’s say, you know, you just you’re like, yeah, it’s fine. I’m just like, not gonna watch anything I do. I’m just not going to be mindful at all. And I’m just going to say yes to all the food and all the things. And we tend to overindulge, especially when we have the mindset of like, well, I know I’m going to be restricting starting January 1st. I know it’s going to be tough on January 1st. So what’s interesting is we end up overindulging and hoarding food because we know we’re treating it like the last supper. And if you’ve ever read anything about intuitive eating, we talk about this, that, you know, if you, as soon as you restrict something and make it off-limits, and you say that’s going away, what’s interesting.

Kristen Boss (07:27):  Is it kind of triggers a primal, you know, fight or flight response in your body. And it thinks, oh, we’re about to go into a season of deprivation. I need to store, I need to store fat. I need to just make sure that I’m okay. And we don’t know we’re doing this. It’s very subconscious. And so I just want you to think, and I’m going to tie this back to your business, but I want you to think, you know, you decide it’s fine. I’m just going to focus on January 1st. And I’m going to enjoy the holidays is I think that’s the words we use. Like I’m going to enjoy the holidays and listen, I want you to enjoy the holidays. I want it to be filled with amazing precious memories, surrounded by people you love. I don’t want you to have regrets for the holidays, but sometimes when we say, you know, I’m just going to enjoy the holidays.

Kristen Boss (08:14):  We don’t define what that’s going to mean. And sometimes when we say I’m going to enjoy the holidays when it comes to food, is I’m not going to have any restrictions. It’s all going to be like, it’s all free game and I’m going to overindulge and I’m not going to deny myself anything. And instead of like, oh, I’m going to enjoy a bite of that. I don’t need a whole thing. I don’t need three slices of pie. Right. Instead of that, it’s like, oh, I’m just gonna eat as much as I want because I can. And I want to. And so, because there’s this overindulging and like, I’m going to enjoy my holidays through food, which, you know, if, if food is the enjoyment of your, I have my challenge to you. And I know this is a business podcast, but I think this might be really good for you is I wonder what it would look like for you through the holidays is to the moment you kind of lose yourself in like fantasizing about the food or the family gathering is to just ask yourself, wait, what if the greatest enjoyment in this moment is not this piece of food is not this slice of pie.

Kristen Boss (09:18):  Where else can I derive pleasure and enjoyment and happiness and fulfillment? Could it be over a cup of tea catching up with my grandma and hearing her, tell me a story? Is it, could it be, you know, working on a puzzle or this tradition, or, you know, running out in the backyard and playing with my nieces and nephews, like ask yourself, what if there is so much more joy to be had than this one bite of food that I’m associating with joy. And, and the reason why I’m saying that is because if you’re saying like, I’m going to enjoy the holidays and you’re finding your enjoyment only in food, then what you’re going to do is to deny yourself nothing. And then come December 31st, instead of like, you know, your pants being a teeny bit tight. Now, you’re really uncomfortable. You’re like, God, why did I do that?

Kristen Boss (10:07):  Why did I overindulge? And why did I do those things? And instead of like, you know, going right back into established habits and being mindful and balanced in the beginning of the year now, like you have to go to this extreme and work it off. Now it has to, instead of maybe it being like two pounds now, it’s crap. Now I have 10 pounds that I have to lose. Had I not overindulged. And so this is where I’m going to drop back to your business. And I’m also not going to here be here and say like, there is a right weight and that you’re wrong for being overweight. And there’s something morally wrong with you. If you have extra weight on you, I think that is part of diet culture. And that’s not what I’m here. That’s not the point of the message. The point of the message is just to understand the stories we tell ourselves and how we tend to overindulge in things that might not be our best, especially when we’re just saying I’m going to enjoy the holidays.

Kristen Boss (11:05):  Well, what we’re actually saying is like, I want to overindulge and deny myself nothing. And I want to find my pleasure in food, right? When there are so many more beautiful things to experience in the world, like, is food the best thing to happen in the holidays? I would say, no, I’m the, and this has been my work for a while. This is something I’m working on. Like, what if I don’t need to find all my pleasure in food? Right? And listen, I’m the girl that loves the carbs. I love the carbs. I love the sugar, but I also was the girl who went through that. The season I’m explaining to you of like, I’m going to deny myself nothing. And, you know, juice cleanse in January. That was my way of being. And what happened was, is I created an unhealthy relationship with my body and unsustainable habits.

Kristen Boss (11:48):  It is absolutely no different in your business. It is there’s zero difference. And so let’s take the same analogy. If you’re saying to yourself, I want to enjoy the holidays, but you don’t clearly define what that looks like. And in your mind, you’re like, I just don’t want to touch my business at all. I’m going to do the bare minimum. I don’t want to post, I don’t want to, you know, sign anybody or, you know, announce any flash sales. I’m just going to kind of disappear. I’m just, I want to just relax and hide. And I just wonder, like, what’s happening in your business where you feel like you want to take a break from it for that long. Like, I just have to wonder why do you feel you need to escape it instead of just having a few days off where you have batched content, that’s ready to go while you’re not there.

Kristen Boss (12:41):  Like, I don’t find myself wanting to escape for the holidays. Now, something that I worked on with my team that I decided ahead of time was like, I’m not going to work the entire week of Thanksgiving. I’m giving myself a week off the academy. We decided, you know, there’s not going to be a coaching call that week. We want students present with their families. They can watch a huge library of prerecorded coaching calls. And we have this amazing tool in there where they can literally type in any phrase, any topic. And it pulls up a previously recorded coaching call to the exact minute, exact second. And that’s the student can watch me coach on that exact topic. It is probably the, one of the best tools we use in the academy. And I also wanted my team to take a break. I wanted my virtual assistant and my online business manager, all these people.

Kristen Boss (13:29):  I’m like, you know what? We preach sustainable business. We preach anti-hustle. And that is what we were going to embody. So, you know, does that mean that I’m going to disappear from the internet next week? Actually, no, you’re not going to notice it all because I will have already done prerecorded content, recording all my podcasts ahead of time writing my emails, you know, working on my Instagram copy. I had, you know, I batched my reels an hour a week in an hour. I can get about eight reels done. And that’s just a, it took a little practice B I remove the standard of perfectionism. See I have fun and I decided to get it done. Right. And I have a set time every week where I sit down to batch reels. So I’m literally sitting on probably actually I think if I look at my real library, there’s probably 15 or 20 that are ready to go.

Kristen Boss (14:21):  And so I will have already done the work ahead of time. So that all that needs to be done is literally, it’s just uploaded on to Instagram. We, I have emails ready to go. So my business is going to be running without me. My people are getting served while I am present with my family. And that’s what I want for you, but I’m not this idea of like, I need to escape from my business, right? It’s, I’m being extremely intentional about what is the holiday I want to experience and what do I need to prepare for ahead of time for my business on my people to still be served exceptionally well, without it coming at a cost to my family and making memories and having a lot of fun. Right? And so I’m actually, you know, the first week of December, we’re getting ready for another huge three-day event that we’re throwing.

Kristen Boss (15:09):  It’s going to be the sustainable success 2.0 for 2022, it’s going to be phenomenal. Like you are, we’re going to be announcing it. There’s a link to pre-register. I’m going to have a pre like a worksheet for you to work on and a video for you to do leading up to the event. We’re going to have amazing things for you ready. Even if you register early, there’s a video for you, there’s work to do so that you’re going to come into that event. So prepared to go to be ready to hit 22 with the, you know, on the ground running too, for it to be your best year. Yet, we are really problem-solving way ahead of time. And it’s like six weeks ahead of time so that, you know, and I told my team, we had a massive team meeting and I said, Hey, how can we have this run as efficiently and as smoothly as possible so that everyone is still enjoying their holidays.

Kristen Boss (16:01):  And we plan from that place. And so we all had deadlines to meet in order to have people be on vacation. And no one’s like typing up emails last minute, you know, afraid that the turkey’s going to burn and their family’s unhappy, right? So there’s, it’s not this idea of like, in order to enjoy the holidays, I have to remove myself from my business. It’s in order to enjoy the holidays, I need to be extremely intentional in my business. I need to be really focused and plan ahead because life is more busy than normal in the last six weeks of the year. This is a really wonderful time for you to build that trust with yourself and become extremely consistent and trust yourself. Yes, even when life is busy, I commit to taking care of my business because my business also takes care of me.

Kristen Boss (16:53):  I tell my mastermind members that your business is your baby. Treat it accordingly. You’re not going to neglect your baby for eight weeks and think, you know, oh, it’ll be there. You know, January. It’s like, oh, now we’re going to have health issues and malnourishment and all these things. Now we have more problems to deal with because I decided to remove myself. And that is exactly what’s going to happen is if you’re telling yourself the only way I’ll enjoy my holiday is if I’m not working, there’s, there’s a story happening in your business. It tells me you’re wanting to escape your business. And I’m wondering if you’re enjoying your business fully because, for me, I love my business. I love serving people. I find such joy in it, right. And I wonder if, if you’re wanting to escape from your business, I wonder if you’re wanting to escape from disappointment that you might be feeling escape from the feeling of frustration of like, why isn’t this working?

Kristen Boss (17:48):  Why aren’t my results happening yet. Right. And feeling like, and this is when it’s mostly empty. And actually, when you are not quite seeing your results, it’s very easy for you to tell yourself nothing’s going to change if you just disappear for a few weeks, but everything does change because you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. And what you actually do is when you step away from your audience for any like long period of time, it actually creates a massive breach of trust. You lose the momentum of all the relational equity you were building with them. And I don’t want you to be beating yourself up and think, oh crap. I just took a week off. It’s hopeless. Now. I just lost all trust with my audience. Forget it. I should just give up now. No, you just have to understand that you’re going to have to earn trust back again.

Kristen Boss (18:38):  You’re going to have to rebuild some of that momentum. And that’s why I’m saying it’s so important for you to at least stay in momentum through the holidays, be present with your audience. Still be adding value, still focus on connecting and relational equity. Because all of these seeds that you are sowing become, you know, the harvest that you will reap in the first quarter of 2022. You need to hear that like all of your efforts over the next six weeks, determine your results. The first eight weeks of 2022. So if you tell me like, Kristen, I just want to disappear and focus on my family because I’m tired. Then you also have to be okay with the results that are going to be there for you in January and February. But what happens is, if you notice that and you’re feeling behind you, like you’re going to feel behind when you, when you start January 1st, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

Kristen Boss (19:27):  You’re going to feel behind. You’re going to feel stressed. You’re going to be worried about your paycheck. And then what happens is you bring all that energy to your selling and your team. Because when you feel behind, when you feel stressed and you’re thinking about your paycheck, you bring this urgency and scarcity and desperation to your selling and your audience can feel that. And when your audience can sense that you are desperate and urgent and needy for their sale, they don’t buy from you. So you actually end up creating more scarcity because you’re coming to them with scarcity. Are you understanding this? Like scarcity only creates more scarcity when you come to your audience with scarcity thinking, I have to meet the bottom line. I have to fix my volume. That now is in the crapper because that’s, what’s going to happen mid February. You’re going to say, I don’t know what happened to my sales.

Kristen Boss (20:19):  I don’t know what happened to my customers. I don’t know what happened to my team. And I, and I could say, let’s go back 60 to 90 days. This is when it happened, but here’s the thing. And I talk about this in micro quitting, micro quitting. It’s so easy to micro quit because we don’t see an immediate negative consequence for a Michael quick micro quit. We also don’t see immediate gratification for a micro commitment. When you decide I’m going to stick with it today, use sticking with it today might not equal a sale today, and you not sticking it with it today. Doesn’t equal a loss of a sale necessarily either, but you don’t know. You’re not feeling the massive consequences of it, but listen, your results are the sum of a thousand small decisions that feel inconsequential. Listen, your results are the sum are the average of a thousand decisions that felt inconsequential in the moment.

Kristen Boss (21:25):  Think about that. We tend to, and most people tend to focus on the big decisions that they make. 20% of the time. They must think, well, 20% of the time I’m on fire and I’m crushing it or whatever, right? Like they think about, well, I crush it three weeks then I’m and then they don’t understand why they don’t have massive results when they crush it three weeks. And then they take a break for a week crush at three weeks and then take a break for three re three weeks. Right? What happens is when you, when your consistency waivers, sodas, the quality of your results and how quickly they compound, right? So when you’re thinking about how to like hustle proof, your holidays and how to enjoy your family, first of all, watch the story you’re telling yourself, are you telling yourself I can’t enjoy my family and also work my business because that’s not true.

Kristen Boss (22:24):  You literally just heard me explain exactly what my company is doing and what I’m doing so that we are fully present my me and my company and my team, because there’s 10 of us total, how we’re all going to enjoy our family holidays. It’s because I decided ahead of time, this is what it’s going to look like. This is what’s going to need to be done. And this is the commitment I’m going to make to it. Now, maybe you’re working a nine to five and maybe you’re like, I can’t come home after my nine to five and disappear in work. When my family from out of town is coming and I need to spend my time with them. This is a very short season. You might need to make small compromises in the short season to make it work. You might need to do things a little differently.

Kristen Boss (23:09):  Like for me, usually I’m not at my desk after three or four o’clock in the afternoon, I’m done. You know, I usually work short weeks. I work 20 to 30 hours a week. If I’m not writing a book, if I’m writing a book, it’s, it’s going to be 30 to 40. Right. I work part-time. But knowing that I’m going to have a full week off, I’m working a little bit later today, you know, the day I’m recording this, I’m working a little bit later in the day. Why to ensure I have time off next week, because I know I’m going to take care of it, right? It’s a small compromise I make. Is this a lifestyle for me and my constantly my desk past six o’clock at night, trying to get podcasts out, trying to get content out. That’s hustling. No, I I’m always honoring my hours, but there are times where we make exceptions because we are, we’re limited by what we can do.

Kristen Boss (24:00):  So, you know, if I described you and you’re like, yeah, nine to five, and then I’m home. And I have to entertain my cousins from town. Like, are you willing to wake up an hour earlier over the next six weeks in order to keep your momentum, continue to build trust with your audience, to start your new year off at the strongest, start possible. Are you willing to do that? Because if you’re not, it’s just temporary discomfort. It is the temporary discomfort of waking up 30 minutes earlier, maybe an hour earlier, getting done what you need to get done. And then being able to focus the rest of your day, doing other things you’re going to have to be highly focused, extremely intentional, and very disciplined for the remaining few weeks of the year. You can do this, but this is how you hustle. Prove your holidays.

Kristen Boss (24:49):  If you don’t have a plan, you are going to be that person hiding in the bathroom, in your DMS, sending someone, you know, your referral link or your coupon code and trying to go back and forth and your husband’s knocking on the door. Are you coming? Hey, the turkey’s ready. Are you gonna help me carve it? And you’re like, oh, I’m coming. I’m coming. I’m coming off. My knocking just made my dog bark. Hey, who’s at the door. But like, maybe the dogs are barking and the kids are gonna be like, mommy, mommy, mommy, where are you? Like if you don’t have a plan, this is what it’s going to be for you. And when you’re having that experience, that is when you’re likely thinking, I just need a break from my business and you don’t need a break from your business. What you need is a plan so that you aren’t having these high-stress situations where you’re trying to do last-minute work and the nooks and crannies around holidays.

Kristen Boss (25:37):  Listen, you can’t do that during the holidays. The holidays require you to have a plan to execute the plan and to make a decision ahead of time of exactly how the holidays were looking. And it might mean sitting down with your partner and saying, Hey, we need to talk about this plan. Here’s why my business is really important to me right now. Here’s why it’s important to us. Here’s what will benefit us. And here’s my plan. How can we make this happen together? Is there anything you’re seeing that I’m not seeing? Is there any, is there an hour that you can give me one day a week? Is there two hours you can give me one day a week where I will go and do focus, work at the local Panera and I will get it done and I will come home and I’ll be fully present?

Kristen Boss (26:18):  You won’t see me on my phone until the kids are in bed and you know, everything else in the house has done. And then maybe I’ll get back on it, right? It’s this level of detail. But some people come to the holidays like, well, we’ll see what happens. And then they’re flying by the seat of their pants, feeling stressed out the entire holidays. And they’re like, darn this business, right? We’re coming up on Black Friday this weekend. Right? And I don’t want you to assume that your holiday sales are going to carry you into the till the new year. Like all, this is a great time of year. Every year, we just crush it in our sales. I don’t have to work my business that hard. But again, that’s very, you’re thinking about the, now you’re not thinking about the future. You’re not thinking about 90 days from now.

Kristen Boss (27:02):  You’re not thinking about having a pipeline filled with qualified people. You’re going to talk to them. By the way, in my three-day event, I’m going to be teaching on a concept called the plentiful pipeline. I’m going to be teaching you how to have a pipeline of qualified leads and for you to never feel like you were out of people to talk to, you’re going to get, you’re going to get the, how you’re going to get the, what you’re going to get it, which is why you need to register. We’re going to put, we’re going to announce it in a special episode. And then we’re going to have the link in the show notes. We’re going to be selling it right after black Friday weekend. So keep your eye out. If you’re on my email list, keep your eye out. You want to preregister. You want to get your team there.

Kristen Boss (27:42):  Why do you want all of your team on the same page. You’re going to use this. I promise you this three-day training. You’re going to use it as a cornerstone for your trainings, for your teams. If you want your team to make committed firm clear decisions and meet those goals for 2022, you get their butts to the live event. It is $9. Anyone who wants to work this business can pay the $9. They just skip the peppermint mocha for a day, right? Anybody who wants to make money doing this business $9 is the most approachable price ever. Like if they’re saying I don’t have $9, we’ve got a problem, right? So that is kind of the little hoo rah pep talk. I wanted to give you so that you can be present with your families. This is why I teach sustainability. This is why I teach anti hustle and I teach hard work.

Kristen Boss (28:40):  I teach this is what focused, intentional, purposeful, disciplined, focused work looks like. And you get better results doing that than running around with your hair on fire, from desperation and urgency and scarcity and lack of belief freaking out, right? Hustle is very much driven by a lack of belief is it’s like its core feeling is scarcity and lack. And you just heard me explain earlier like scarcity only creates more scarcity, which is why this is why I teach this philosophy. So that because when you’re buying into the hustle 24 7, and that’s the only way I’ll get results, then, of course, the holidays sound terrible. Right? Of course, enjoying time with your family sounds impossible because how does 24 7 ideology to get results? Also, work with spending time with your family during the holidays. It does it. And I don’t want your families to not like you during the holidays.

Kristen Boss (29:42):  It’s one thing for them to not like your business model and have thoughts about your business. That’s fine. People are going to not like your business and think it’s weird, but don’t give them ammunition for your business. Don’t give them ammunition. And the ammunition I’m talking about is like, Hey, you’re never here with us. You’re always on your phone. You’re getting up from the Thanksgiving table. You’re running in the backyard. You’re, you’re hiding to your teams are disappearing on zoom calls. You’re not enjoying family time because of your work you’re acting like, you know, there’s a fire all the time. That’s the ammunition I’m talking about. It’s not like that. You’re in a, you know, a business model that they don’t agree with or they think is weird or that you’re selling steak oil. That’s not what they’re going to have thoughts about. They’re going to have thoughts about carving the turkey and your plate being cold because you’re answering DMS. I’m saying it. I want an abundant life for you. I want so much more in this life for you. And this is, this is what my students experience. They experience time off. They’re like, excuse me. This is the most crazy feeling in the world. It’s amazing to be done at night for my work to be done and to enjoy my family, enjoy TV again, enjoy a fictional book, take a nap, go out and have fun and make memories, and still hit my goals.

Kristen Boss (31:11):  That is how you know, you are in a, in operating sustainably. That is how you know, you are working with discipline and focus. Building a business is hard. I’m not gonna lie to you. Actually. I have an episode coming out soon that I’m really excited for you to hear because you need to hear it. You need to hear it’s hard. Of course, it’s hard. I had a student, I was coaching in the academy and she was just saying like, I’m just wondering if this is for me. I was like, why do you think something else will be easier? And she did. She thought, well, maybe it would be easier. I’m like, no, anything that requires growth is going to be hard. Anything that requires learning a new skill set is going to suck on so many levels. I’m going to be talking about this in my book too.

Kristen Boss (31:52):  It’s coming out in the spring so excited. Right? Okay. So friends make a plan, decide ahead of time, how you are going to experience your holidays. Don’t do the blanket statement. I’m going to enjoy my holidays, which means like do whatever I won’t neglect my business, you know, and back to the kind of the health analogy I’m going to enjoy my holidays. That’s like, I’m neglecting my wellbeing. I’m neglecting my body so that I can overindulge because I know I’m in a, hurt my body in the beginning of the new year, notice that we it’s, the hustle is the same thing. Like I’m going to take a break because I know I’m going to whoop my butt with sending, you know, a million messages a day and acting like my pants are on fire in the, of the year. Right? So work with purpose. Work with intention, have a plan, and enjoy your holidays.

Kristen Boss (32:49):  Enjoy your families. I also know I’ll add this. I also know this is a really hard time of year for a lot of you. I know some people have lost loved ones this year. Maybe your family is divided. Maybe the table isn’t as warm and as cozy as you pictured, it would be this year. Maybe it’s been a year of loneliness for you. Maybe it’s been a year of heartache. And I just want you to know that you matter, that you matter and people care about you and love you. And someone in the academy said to me, she came to a call and I guess things in life were really, really hard. And she happened to hear on a coaching call where I said to somebody, I said, tell me why this life is still worth choosing, tell me why you would still choose to live this life.

Kristen Boss (33:42):  And that person was going through a really hard time. And she needed to hear why she chose her life for herself. And apparently, my other student needed to hear it too. So I see you. I’m thankful for you. You matter deeply to somebody. And if you know someone that’s alone this holiday season, you send them a text. You send them an email. You call them. Call them, show up at their door, write an email, whatever you have to do, tell them, Hey, I see you. I love you. Thank you for being you. I’m here. If there’s an MTC that your holiday table maybe invite somebody, right? Because this is a hard year. This is a hard time of year for a lot of people. So maybe go around as you go about your week, this week, have your eyes open, and ask yourself who can I bless today? And how might I bless them? And sometimes a blessing is just smiling and making eye contact with a complete stranger and saying, happy holidays to you. Hey, thank you for opening that door. Hey, can I get you a cup of coffee? Right? That’s my challenge for you. Okay. Friends. I will see you right back here next week. I’m thankful for all of you. Have a really blessed week.
